Get to know the new Directors of
Sports Shack Volleyball Club
Kaitlin Sather Nielsen
Kaitlin is currently the Head Assistant Coach of UCLA Women’s Volleyball Team. Kaitlin was the assistant coach of the UCLA Sand Volleyball Team in its augural season in 2013. After being named the volunteer assistant for the UCLA Women’s Volleyball Team for the 2014 season, Kaitlin was hired full time as the 1st Assistant for the Bruins.
Kaitlin feels right at home at UCLA after her decorated volleyball career as a Bruin. Since graduation in 2009, Kaitlin toured the country, and world, playing professional sand and indoor volleyball.
Kaitlin has a long history with the Shack as she coached with the club from 2007 to 2012. With over 10 years of experience coaching club on both the men’s and women’s side, colligate coaching experience, and an expertise in college recruiting, Kaitlin is both highly qualified and excited to be co-directing the Shack.
Nils Robert Nielsen
Nils comes to Sports Shack bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the club. He is currently volunteering with the Men’s program at UCLA under the direction of head coach John Speraw. He will be coaching the US’s Pan American team down in Mexico this summer and still is active on the AVP tournament circuit.
Nils graduated from Cal State Northridge in 2005 and starting in 2006 Nils began training with the US Men’s National team and was named to the 2007 World League roster. He trained through the 2008 Olympic cycle with the team that went on to win gold in Beijing.
He has played professionally all over the world with highlights in Greece, France, and the Middle East. He has learned from the best domestic coaches, seen a wide variety of styles around the world, and could not be more excited to share the things he has learned with the future girls of The Sports Shack.
